Smoked haddock & sweetcorn chowder

Serves 4


  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1½ tsp dried sage
  • 6 medium potatoes, chopped into dice shapes
  • 3 cups (600ml) water
  • I fillet of smoked haddock
  • 1½ cups (300ml) milk
  • 2 x 325g tins of sweetcorn, drained
  • pepper


  1. Put enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan then cook the onions, garlic, sage and potatoes for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Pour in water and bring to the boil.
  3. Turn down the heat, add the fish.
  4. Cover and simmer gently for about 15 minutes.
  5. Add milk and sweetcorn then liquidise until the soup is thick & creamy.
  6. Add pepper for seasoning.
  7. Serve
