Utilising the Pockets and Prospects fund and in partnership with Nourish and Forth Environment Link, ECF delivered a 10-week programme to enable lower-income families to access locally produced food. We engaged families in various support activities around planning, preparation, cooking, and the benefits of utilising local food. We also engaged families in discussions around local supply chains, air miles, sustainable ‘distance’ food and the impacts of food prevenance on climate change.

Families received food boxes containing locally grown and produced products delivered by volunteers on cargo bikes. Read about the project here here.

Participants joined our Local Food Champs closed facebook group which became busy with an array of 500+ photos shared of meals cooked with the box ingredients. Families reported that they had increased the amount of cooking they were doing with their children and that the children were trying foods they'd never had in the home before!
