News and Blogs Latest News Meet the Farmer - Blacketyside Farm Blacketyside Farm was acquired by the current owners Robert and Eleanor Todd in 1992. They were attracted by the quality land and great Fife location. Their intention was to grow cereals, but with 5 acres of strawberries and raspberries already on the farm, they decided to see if they would enjoy soft fruit farming too. From 5 acres in 1992 to over 200 acres today, the rest is history! There are so many aspects of Blacketyside Farm's operation that contribute towards their delicious fruit, from the farm having its own natural water source and using biological control (using good insects to eat bad insects) to reduce the need for chemicals, to perfecting their picking technique to increase shelf life. It takes a lot of work and effort from a dedicated team to bring the fruit to market. Watch our video to find out more about the farm and our visit. . Thank you to Robert for taking the time to show us around and describing just how much goes into growing such incredible tasting fruit! And thank you to the team at Mark Murphy for organising the trip. Manage Cookie Preferences
