Nicola Farwell - Acting Chair

Nicola serves as the Consumer CRM Manager at VisitScotland. She has a degree in Communications and a career in Marketing with a particular focus on customer insights and data management. Nicola is passionate about the value data can bring to the third sector and communities. She joined the board in November 2019.

Kathy Muir

Kathy Muir spent the first half of her working life in market research, specifically managing consumer and brand research teams. The second half of her career introduced her to investment banking where she shared her branding, marketing, communication, and process management skills. Currently, Kathy is a marketing and brand specialist.

Kathy first came to ECF as a volunteer and has now been involved in almost all aspects of ECF’s marketing and communications activity. She loves food and working within the community at all levels.

Karen Pryor

Karen is a Welfare Rights Officer with Harbour (formerly Port of Leith Housing Association). Her journey into welfare rights began when she volunteered for Peebles Citizens Advice Bureau and went on to be employed as a welfare benefits adviser. Prior to this, she worked in the legal sector as a Property Litigation Paralegal. Karen has a degree in Psychology and a passion for social justice.

Alexander Colling

Alexander works on granting, finance, human resources, and event logistics for the European NGO Zero Waste Europe and has previously worked and volunteered extensively in the homelessness sector in a number of roles at local, national, and international levels, including frontline service delivery and leading a UK-wide small grant scheme for those at risk of, or dealing with, homelessness.

He is a member of the board of Open Door Scotland, a charity supporting young homeless people in West Lothian.


William Butler

Will is a Senior HR Business Partner at M&G plc. He has an MA (hons) degree in English Literature and an MSc in Human Resource Management. Will has broad experience in Human Resources, both in the U.K. and Europe, and has worked in the Insurance, Asset Management, and Technology industries. Will joined the board in 2023.

Sally Findlay

Sally is a Community Development Manager at Pilton Community Health Project where her main role is to manage and deliver the Women Supporting Women Programme. Before this, she was a chef and worked in several well-known Edinburgh restaurants.

She is a confident, approachable, and experienced food and health development worker and manager with a special interest in groups who may be or feel excluded from the larger population. She has ample experience in generating revenue and fundraising in both profit and not-for-profit sectors. She is passionate about working with partners and organisations, sharing knowledge and resources to achieve a collaborative advantage in meeting the needs of marginalised communities in Edinburgh. She wants to use her experiences as a front-line worker to inform and assist in strategic planning for a sustainable future.


Severine Monvoisin

Since 2012, Severine has served as the Community Gardens Coordinator at Edinburgh College. In this role, she has showcased her dedication to community involvement by managing two award-winning gardens and coordinating with around 300 volunteers annually. She is responsible for resource management, risk assessment, and generating educational materials that promote gardening, sustainability, and the Sustainable Development Goals. Her role also involves fostering connections with external organisations.

Severine is a highly motivated and well-organised professional with exemplary communication skills. She excels both in team environments and in independent roles. With a commitment to reliability, Severine is enthusiastic about learning and embracing new challenges.
